Restaurants in London

There is a vast array of restaurants in London to choose from whether you are looking for a fast food chain, a pub lunch or fine dining. Many restaurants in London offer set menus particularly at lunch time and there are often theatre and meal packages or similar deals to be had in the evenings.

London is a multicultural city and cuisine from all parts of the world is easy to find. To enjoy a good Chinese meal a visit to China Town where you can soak in the atmosphere whilst deciding where to eat might be fun.

Indian food is available all over London but for a special occasion why not spoil yourself with a visit to ‘Veeraswamy’ in the West End, established in 1926 it is the UK’s oldest surviving Indian restaurant and has recently been refurbished to reflect its former glory.

For Japanese food why not try one of the ’Wagamama’ chain of noodle restaurants across London or enjoy the experience of having your food cooked in front of you at your Teppan table at ‘Benehana’ in Piccadilly, Chelsea or Swiss Cottage.

For traditional English fayre visit ‘Hix’ in Brewer Street in Soho or why not enjoy a Sunday roast at one of the many gastropubs. You might even want to visit ‘Manzes’ pie and mash shop in Tower Bridge Road where you can also sample the East End delicacy of eel liquor, although this is perhaps more of an acquired taste.

Whilst most restaurants in London offer vegetarian options, you can also find a good choice of vegetarian restaurants including ‘Beatroot’ in Berwick Street in the heart of Soho. Here they serve fresh vegetarian meals accompanied by a selection of tasty and nutritious juices and smoothies. Or ‘Eat and Two Veg’ in Marylebone which even includes vegetarian burgers and sausage and mash on its menu.

If your preference is for fish, ‘J. Sheekey’, sea-food and oyster bar, in Covent Garden is ideal for pre or post theatre dining or relax in the informal surroundings of ‘Livebait’ in Waterloo.

Cuisine to suit all tastes and all price ranges is readily available but if you have a particular preference it would be a good idea to do some research and tables should be booked well in advance for the most popular restaurants in London, particularly those with Michelin stars.Remember too that many restaurants in London also offer take-out services.
