Liberty London

Established since 1875, Liberty London is a whimsical department store located on Great Marlborough Street.

Liberty was founded by Arthur Lasenby, who originally opened up shop on Regent Street before moving to its current location in 1924. Housed in a mock-Tudor style building, the store was built using wood from the HMS Impregnable and the HMS Hindustan, giving the interior a warm, cosy atmosphere.

Filled with eccentrically designed goods, the Store is most famous for its prints and fabrics, which inspired many British designers, including Christopher Kane. These iconic prints are available for purchase in various forms such as stationary, accessories and scarves, perfect as gifts for loved ones.

Travellers with large luggage or buggies should note that Liberty is a little more cosy and crowded than other Department Stores and may find it difficult to navigate. Travellers can visit Soho nearby for a selection of trendy dining and Oxford Circus, for more shopping options. Those travelling with children should also check out Hamley’s, a toy store with an extensive collection, just down Regents Street.
